I had an idea for a couple of months that I wanted to shoot a rocker chic Toronto couple session with a fun couple and thought that Stef and David would be perfect! Stef and I know each other through the wedding industry (she is the powerhouse behind Sweven Beauty), so when I reached out I was so excited to hear that they were down for it.
We spent a couple of weeks talking about the concept, figuring out a date, sharing ideas and I found the perfect location that had the most quintessential Toronto backdrop – the CN tower and the Rogers Centre. I wanted to aim for something a little more trendy, so we ended up going with a rocker chic vibe for this fun Toronto couple. I already knew that Stef was going to kill it with her hair and makeup, but they showed up in outfits even better than I could have hoped for and I knew this was going to be such a fun shoot.
The day of the shoot, the weather was pretty dark and cloudy but instead of rescheduling we decided to go for it. We started on a parking garage rooftop right off of the Gardiner with the most epic views and spent half an hour shooting until we were approached by security and asked to leave. We were bummed for about 5 seconds until I took them outside on the side street and ended up actually loving that location even more. By that time it was getting darker so the lights of the city started to pop even more, adding to the fun city vibe. It just goes to show that your backup plan can be just as awesome!
Sometimes it is necessary to be creative just for the sake of being creative in the middle of a busy wedding season and this session was the perfect way to do that!
